Bhushi Dam Accident: A heartbreaking news has come from Pune, Maharashtra. A family had gone for a picnic near the Bhushi Dam waterfall here. The accident happened due to a sudden increase in the water level of the waterfall.

A woman and four children drowned in the water in this accident. According to the information received, the bodies of the woman and two girls have been found so far. While the search for two children is on. The victims have been identified as Sahista Liyaqat Ansari, 36, Amima Salman, 13, Umera Salman, 8, Adnan Ansari, 4 and Maria Ansari, 9.

Accident happened due to sudden increase in water level

This accident happened due to sudden increase in water level at the incident site. It has been raining continuously for the last few days. Due to which the flow of water in the waterfall suddenly increased.

This accident happened due to sudden increase in the water level where the family had stayed. The officer of Lonavala Police Station said that this incident happened around 3 pm.

When these five people went on a picnic, they slipped and fell into the water near the waterfall. After this incident, the search and rescue team reached the spot and action was started.

Pune Rural SP Pankaj Deshmukh said, “A woman and 4 children drowned in a waterfall near Bhushi Dam in Lonavala. Two bodies have been recovered. Search and rescue operations are underway. All five people belong to the same family of Syed Nagar in Pune.”

Bhushi Dam is a popular tourist destination in Lonavala. Tourists come here from far and wide throughout the year. Especially during the monsoon season, the maximum number of tourists arrive.

During heavy rains, the dam overflows. Let us tell you that such accidents have happened in this dam before. To reduce these accidents, Lonavala Police and Railways set up a control room near the dam. Consumption of alcohol is prohibited in the areas around the dam.

Entry of vehicles into the area was banned after 3 pm. Tourists are prohibited from entering the dam and surrounding areas after 5 pm. Tourists are allowed to visit Bhusi Dam from 9 am to 3 pm. Except for local buses, all other buses are also prohibited from entering the area.
