Brazil plane crash: A major plane accident occurred in Brazil. Local TV station GloboNews reported that a plane carrying 62 people crashed on Friday. All 62 people on board the plane are reported dead in this accident. Local officials present near the accident site said that a regional turboprop plane carrying 62 people crashed near Sao Paulo, Brazil on Friday, killing all the people on board.

Officials in the city of Valinhos, near Vinhedo, said that no one survived and a house in a local condominium complex was damaged. However, no one in the house was reported injured.

The ATR-72 plane operated by airline Vopas Linhas Aereas was going from Cascavel in Parana state to Guarulhos in Sao Paulo. Sao Paulo’s state fire brigade confirmed on social media that a plane crashed in Vinhedo and sent seven teams to the accident area.

58 passengers and 4 crew members were on board

Airline Vopas confirmed in a statement that a plane flying to Sao Paulo’s international airport Guarulhos crashed, carrying 58 passengers and 4 crew members. The statement did not say what caused the accident.

Brazilian television network GloboNews showed footage of a fire in a residential area and smoke coming out of part of the plane. Footage on GloboNews showed a plane falling rapidly downward. The plane is seen in the video falling into an area with trees. After this a cloud of smoke rose. At an event in southern Brazil, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva expressed sadness over the accident and asked the people present there to stand and observe a minute of silence.
